Early Life and Education

Tim Walz was born on April 6, 1964, in West Point, Nebraska. He grew up on a farm and attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he played football and earned a bachelor's degree in social work.

Military Career

After college, Walz joined the U.S. Army and served for 24 years. He was deployed to Iraq twice and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service.

Political Career

Walz entered politics after retiring from the Army. He was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2006 and served until 2014. In 2014, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he represented Minnesota's 1st Congressional District.

Governor of Minnesota

In 2018, Walz was elected Governor of Minnesota. He is the first Democratic governor of Minnesota since 1991. Walz is a moderate Democrat who has worked to find common ground with Republicans on issues such as education and healthcare. He is also a strong advocate for veterans and has worked to expand access to mental health services for veterans.

Personal Life

Walz is married to Gwen Walz and they have two children. He is a member of the Roman Catholic Church and is an avid outdoorsman.
