High Blood Pressure Linked to Environmental Contaminant

Discovery Links Tellurium to Hypertension Risk

Study Highlights Dietary Exposure and Industrial Emissions

Researchers have discovered a compelling link between high blood pressure and tellurium, a contaminant prevalent in our environment.

The study, conducted by researchers at Nagoya University in Japan, found that individuals with elevated dietary tellurium intake exhibited a significantly increased risk of developing hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure.

Tellurium is a naturally occurring element primarily released into the environment through mining and manufacturing processes. It finds its way into our food chain through contaminated soil and water, ultimately becoming a part of the foods we consume.

The researchers emphasize that their findings underscore the importance of monitoring tellurium levels in our environment and food sources to mitigate its potential health implications.
