Juventus Fight Back to Earn Point Against Cagliari

Late Goals Rescue Bianconeri from Defeat

TURIN, Italy (November 11, 2023)

Juventus overcame a two-goal deficit in the second half to salvage a 2-2 draw against Cagliari at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors stunned the defending Serie A champions by taking a 2-0 lead in the first half. However, Juventus rallied in the second half, with Matthijs de Ligt and Cristiano Ronaldo finding the net to earn a hard-fought point.

Cagliari took the lead in the 15th minute when Joao Pedro capitalized on a defensive error from Leonardo Bonucci. The Brazilian forward coolly slotted the ball past Wojciech Szczesny to give the visitors a shock lead.

Cagliari doubled their advantage in the 27th minute through a stunning strike from Razvan Marin. The Romanian midfielder unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box that flew into the top corner, leaving Szczesny helpless.

Juventus struggled to create clear-cut chances in the first half, but they came out with renewed determination in the second period.

The Bianconeri pulled one back in the 63rd minute when de Ligt headed home from a corner kick. The Dutch defender rose highest to meet Weston McKennie's cross and reduce the deficit to one goal.

With time running out, Juventus piled on the pressure, and they were rewarded in the 85th minute. Ronaldo struck a superb free-kick from the edge of the box, leaving Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno rooted to the spot.

The draw extends Juventus's unbeaten run to six games in all competitions. They remain in fourth place in Serie A, seven points behind leaders Napoli.

Cagliari, meanwhile, have now gone seven games without a win. They sit in 17th place, just two points above the relegation zone.
